Millgate Lane will be a hive of activity this Saturday with both teams playing at home ahead of the club's traditional bonfire and fireworks display!

This weekend the boys in blue's 1st XV welcome back Newton-Le-Willows in a replay of the abandoned round 6 game originally scheduled for 20 October.

When the game was stopped and eventually abandoned, Bedes held a slender 11-7 lead, however Newton had a scrum deep in the home side's half. Both sides had realistic hopes of winning the match and will surely be equally filled with optimism this time round.

Since that game, Bedes have won once and lost once whilst Newton have been defeated twice (both sides losing to Eagle in this period).

A win for Bedes will do no more than close the gap on 5th place Eagle who currently lie 7 points ahead. Should Newton come away with 4 points they will climb four places in the league, whilst a bonus point win will see them leapfrog Bedes into 6th Place. Meanwhile, the rest of North Lancs 2 enjoy a break in league action to play cup fixtures.

Meanwhile, the 2nds take a break from league action to host Acton Nomads in the first round of the NOWIRUL Shield. After last week's drubbing at the hands of league leaders Trafford MV, James Kington's men will be looking for a big performance to take them into the second round.

However, the men from Nantwich will be no easy task, sitting 6 points and 3 league points above Bedians in the league with some impressive victories under their belt so far this season. The Bedians will though no doubt be looking for a repeat of last season's home game when they prevailed 39-0, rather than the 20-5 away defeat.

Full NOWIRUL Shield Fixtures are available at this link.

Both games again kick off at the earlier time of 2.15pm, and the bar will be open after the game, with the Ireland v South Africa (5.30pm KO) sure to be a highlight before the bonfire and fireworks kicks off later in the evening.
