Old Bedians are proud that two of our members have been recognised at the recent Honda Volunteer of the Year Awards.
We are proud at Old Bedians to be completely run by a wonderful group of volunteers who give up their time and effort to run the club and put everything in place for us all to enjoy our rugby. So it’s always satisfying when our volunteers are recognised for their efforts and this year we have two of our club members winning a Honda Volunteer Recognition Award from the RFU for their hard work.
Club Captain Danny Walder received recognition for his amazing efforts throughout the last 12 months. On the pitch Danny has been a wonderful leader and has really excelled in his role as captain. But off the pitch Danny has done a phenomenal amount of unseen work and helped out in almost every facet of club life with jobs such as preparing food post-match for players, preparing social media graphics and posts, putting on extra fitness sessions for the lads, doing recruitment and advertising, and has even helped out line marking the pitches before matches. Danny has put in an amazing amount of time and effort this season to make the club a better place for everyone both on and off the pitch which we are really grateful for, and he is very deserving of his award.
Sean Lynch has volunteered on the junior rugby committee for many years and is now the Old Bedians Sports Club Chairman, overseeing the running of the whole sports club. With Sean’s dedication and time the club is in a strong position and we have all benefited from Sean’s hard work in recent years with the clubhouse being a very welcoming space and thanks to Sean’s efforts the club has finally got new showers and boiler so we can all enjoy warm showers again!
Sean works really hard to make the club a better place for us all, and gets his hands dirty helping with every job from working behind the bar to tidying the car park! Big thanks for all your efforts and well done for your award.
The work that Danny and Sean have done has been hugely beneficial to the club and they are worthy of their recognition awards, we are extremely grateful and lucky to have them at Old Bedians.
Great work gents.
