Under the soaring September sun, Old Bedians took on Mossley Hill for their second game of the season.
Old Bedians started the game intensely putting the spirited Mossley Hill defence under pressure early on, and were rewarded with two tries from Tom Slinger and Scot Duncan Mullins. New fly half, Sam Whyte, adding the conversions in an all-round excellent performance from hand and boot.
Strong runs from Richard Thompson, Chris Johnson and Matt Beaty provided an excellent platform for fast flowing rugby under the sun at Millgate Lane, with the first half being fiercely contested in blustery conditions.
Following strong midfield defence from the Welsh duo, Owens and Roberts-Harry, Mossley Hill scored a well deserved try late at the end of the first half to take the game to just one score at half time (14-7).
With the wind at their back, Old Bedians played fast flowing rugby throughout the second half. Line breaks from the ever-present Vince Betty left space across the back line and Tom Slinger crossed again to top off a strong performance for the blonde bombshell. Benefiting from the hard work from the pack, Captain Gaffney controlled the play, scoring an opportunistic try before Betty got a well-deserved try.
Rob Oliver and Sam Whyte topped off excellent individual performances with further second half tries, taking the score to 47-7 at the final whistle.
