By Jack Johnson

The day begun with a slow but steady drive to Crewe, the sun was shinning the only downfall was the pitch but beggars can’t be choosers.
Both teams had a mixture of youth and olds pros which gave the game a bit of extra spice. Like most weeks Crewe started the brighter and took the lead
with a penalty directly under the posts. Things went from bad to worse with the injury to Swede, a crucial decision by captain Cookie led to Jim Bloor stepping up and filling the role at 10.

With our backs against the wall everyone dug deep and took the game to Crewe, with some great running by the centres Tuppers and Dave (ginner) it led to Ginner breaking through and running in a very well deserved individual try, Jack (not the real Jack Johnson) slotted over with the extras.
The game went back and forth with Crewe, to be fair having most of the possession; they then took the lead with a try.

At half time we were given a well deserved rollocking by Bannell, but everyone encouraged and realised that we hadn’t even begun to start playing the way we knew we could.
With some tactical changes we began the second half much brighter and began taking control of the game, this led to Crewe giving away many penalties for constant infringements.

A kicking battle for territory then began, with both teams showing signs of winning the game, but to be honest we showed the most promise. Sean O Rourke was then brought on to secure the scrum which he did with his first engage. This led to the official giving the scrum to us as they could not cope with bombardment of pressure, Jack O'Shea then picked the ball at 8 popped to foxy who then passed to Jay who stepped two players and placed the ball over the white wash.

The score was now 12-10 and the pressure was on but with some fine rucking and tackling by the forwards and backs we managed to see out the game. A cracking win and well deserved
